The 16 Mile downhill trail is the first public freeride flow trail to be built in the Mat-Su Valley.  The trail follows a popular winter downhill shuttle route, but offers a sustainable solution to the previously existing rutted and dangerous downhill bike trail.

The trail was initially laid out by Gravity Logic, with year one work being conducted by Alaska State Parks and Happy Trails INC.  Ptarmigan instructed state parks crew members on proper berm and jump radii, installed rock armoring and completed construction of a half-mile reroute in early summer 2014.
